New Businesses Opening at Carmel City Center
April 9, 2021
Carmel City Center is excited to welcome three new businesses to its mix of offerings this summer. Magic Hat Barber Shop, 317Home, and Manelé Café will all be joining Carmel City Center.
Magic Hat Barber Shop, a luxury men’s grooming experience, will open at 885 Monon Green Blvd, Suite 101 this summer. Premium haircuts, beard trims, and straight razor shaves will be on offer and expert barbers will focus on capturing the spirit of each guest while they enjoy complimentary beverages and abundant extras in an inviting, well-appointed environment. In addition to barbering services, Magic Hat will provide a curated selection of grooming products, fragrances, and gifts.
At Magic Hat, clients will be welcomed into a polished and professional atmosphere within an industrial loft-like space. Every guest will be invited to consult with their barber to capture that guest’s individual goals and intentions. With barbering services, guests will receive a rinse or shampoo as well as blow-dry and style to send them out feeling clean and energized.
“Barber shops are important for communities and Carmel City Center has areas built-in that bring communities together,” says owner Justin Virgil Gramelspacher. “I felt [Carmel City Center] embodies the thoughtful growth that is occurring in Carmel, Hamilton County, and Indy at large. I love that it’s right off the Monon Trail, which I think is a gem.”
Magic Hat will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. Haircuts will be priced at $40 and beard trims at $25. A straight razor shave with osage hot towels and pre/post shave skin care will be $40 with the option to shave both directions of hair grain.
317Home, a furniture restoration and workshop studio, will relocate to 715 Hanover Place, Suite 140 at Carmel City Center this summer. Owned by Rebecca Null, 317Home is bringing the exclusive Annie Sloan brand to Carmel as an exclusive stockist and art studio. Guests can have their furniture professionally restored by expert painters or learn the techniques and application themselves at the workshop. 317Home will offer Annie Sloan products for sale including paints, waxes, and brushes. Guests can also purchase restored furniture in the studio.
Owner and Indiana native, Rebecca Null first discovered the Annie Sloan brand 20 years ago and, along with her clientele, has grown more dedicated and attracted to the beautiful finish it creates. Guests will be able to purchase fully restored furniture with the Annie Sloan finish or join in-studio classes to learn decoupage, molding, transfer, and other restoration techniques using their own furniture pieces. “The furniture will be painted in front of everyone, and it’s always fun to see a painted project coming together,” says Rebecca Null.
317Home will be a perfect addition to Carmel City Center, providing guests the chance to learn, create, and enjoy the craft in between shopping and dining. “The surrounding shops were gorgeous. The variety was wonderful, and the style of the shopping area was beautiful. I was very eager to join,” says Rebecca. “We had dinner one night at Hotel Carmichael and we walked by Suite 140 and it became instantly apparent that I could make it into an amazing art studio.”
317Home will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and base prices for restoration services will be $60 per hour plus the costs of materials. Workshop classes will range from $50-$175 per class.
Manelé Café, a Hawaiian inspired café, will open in 703 Veterans Way – the former location of Hubbard & Cravens, early this summer. Manelé Café will feature a 75-seat dining room, including a 4-seasons covered patio. In addition, Manelé Café has a counter service area for coffee & espresso drinks, smoothies, and grab and go snacks. Manelé Café will offer a health-forward menu of salads cold and warm bowls consisting of a variety of customizable ingredients. Warm bowls will offer of a choice of a grain or green base followed by a choice of protein such as Huli-Huli chicken, Teriyaki Steak, Kahlua Pork, Ahi poke, Garlic Shrimp, Grilled Portobello and then vegetables, sauces and toppers. Cold bowls will offer a choice of frozen acai or pitaya with a variety of toppers such as house-made granola and fresh fruit, and other healthy items. The menu will be rounded out with an all-day breakfast menu featuring items like Avocado Toast, Omelets, French Toast and Waffles all inspired by the flavors of the pacific islands.
Owner, Craig Barnum, joined the Carmel City Center community with the opening of Matt the Miller’s Tavern in 2012. “We have had a great experience in Carmel with Matt the Miller’s Tavern, and we look forward to serving the community through Manelé Café for many years,” said Barnum. Manelé Café will serve Hubbard & Cravens coffee, and a selection of Hawaiian coffee along with beer and wine and Hawaiian Shaved Ice. The Café will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“We are very excited to introduce these three businesses to Carmel City Center,” said Melissa Averitt, executive vice president at Pedcor Companies. “We believe patrons will embrace the additional services and experiences provided by these establishments.”
