The Deadlift
Did you know that the deadlift is one of the best full body exercises that you can do? When done correctly, it utilizes nearly every muscle in the body, strengthens the core, and improves overall fitness levels. It also re-enforces good mechanics that can be practically applied when life requires you to lift and move heavy things. However, did you know that the deadlift is also one of the most dangerous exercises if performed incorrectly and is one of the most commonly misperformed exercises?
While performing the deadlift, make sure to keep the bar close to your legs, keep your back flat (don’t allow it to round), and raise your hips and shoulders at the same time, and the same rate. If you’re not ready yet for the standard deadlift, several modifications exist to make it appropriate for your skill level.
